Manchester City impresses with Anfield win
LONDON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Manchester City capitalized on Ryan Gravenberch's second-half dismissal to beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday, overcoming a hostile atmosphere to underline its Premier League title credentials.
City faced chants of "cheats" from Liverpool supporters amid ongoing controversy over the club's alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, but took control after Gravenberch was sent off for a second yellow card in the 62nd minute.
Erling Haaland broke the deadlock three minutes later with a first-time finish before Jeremy Doku doubled City's lead in the 68th minute, cutting inside and curling a shot into the corner.
Rayan Cherki added a third after a flowing passing move to complete an emphatic victory for the visitors.
Elsewhere, newly promoted Hull City twice showed its resilience in a 2-2 home draw against Everton.
After a goalless first half, Joe Gelhardt put Hull ahead with a delicate finish in the 48th minute, but Everton responded through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry to turn the match around.
Mohamed Belloumi rescued a point for the hosts with a powerful strike in the 74th minute.
Nottingham Forest coach Oliver Glasner endured an unhappy return to his former club as Crystal Palace came from behind to win 3-1 at Selhurst Park.
Dan Ndoye gave Forest a third-minute lead, but Palace equalized through Daichi Kamada in the 41st minute before Jefferson Lerma struck in first-half stoppage time to put the hosts ahead.
Spain international Yeremy Pino sealed the victory with Palace's third goal in the 59th minute.
On Saturday, Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. James Justin put the visitors ahead before second-half goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes secured all three points for the reigning champion.
Chelsea thrashed Bournemouth 5-1, with Jordan Henderson and Joao Pedro scoring twice each and Morgan Rogers also on target.
Manchester United drew 1-1 with 10-man Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, while Brighton won 2-0 at Sunderland.
Aston Villa and Brentford shared the points in a 2-2 draw, while Ipswich Town recovered from a goal down to beat Fulham 2-1 at home.
