Atletico Madrid confirms sale of defender Ruggeri to Aston Villa
MADRID, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid on Wednesday confirmed the sale of Italian Under-21 international left-back Matteo Ruggeri to Premier League side Aston Villa.
Ruggeri had been in England for several days negotiating his departure and becomes the latest major player to leave Atletico this summer.
"From Atletico Madrid, we wish him a lot of luck in his future professional and personal projects," informed the Atletico official website.
Ruggeri made 47 appearances for Atletico last season, including 26 in La Liga, five in the Copa del Rey, 15 in the Champions League and one in the Spanish Super Cup.
