Chinese automaker Jetour holds school charity event in Zimbabwe capital
HARARE, Aug. 19 (Xinhua)
Chinese automaker Jetour has held a school charity event at Kuwadzana 1 Primary School in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, donating stationery and essential learning materials to local pupils.
The community initiative, organized on Tuesday under the Jetour Africa Expedition 2026, brought together representatives from Jetour Zimbabwe, local vehicle owners, school teachers and pupils for a day of educational support and cultural exchange.
Following the donation, the pupils participated in an interactive painting session, expressing their creative ideas about cars, nature, and the future of their communities.
Farayi Chifamba, head of Kuwadzana 1 Primary School, expressed deep appreciation for the sustained support the school has received from the Chinese community over the years, noting that such engagements have fostered enduring friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Zimbabwe.
"The Chinese community has supported our school in different ways over the years, and we truly value this friendship. Today's visit by Jetour is another example of how people from Zimbabwe and China can come together, not only through business, but also through education, community engagement and care for the younger generation," Chifamba said.
Michael Hove, dealer principal of Jetour Zimbabwe, noted that the event offered a valuable opportunity to engage directly with local communities and support youth development.
"Where you start does not determine where you will end up. If you work hard and believe in yourself, you can build a better future," Hove told the students, urging them to contribute to their community's growth. ■
