Brent oil price tops 100 USD amid Mideast conflicts

Brent crude prices surpassed 100 U.S. dollars per barrel earlier Wednesday, fueled by conflicts in the Middle East.

Brent crude futures for November delivery reached 100.95 dollars per barrel at one point, breaching the symbolic price level for the first time since July 24.

Ukraine says it struck naval base in Russia's Krasnodar region

Ukrainian forces have struck a naval base in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday.

A terminal used to load oil, military port facilities, and warships carrying Kalibr missiles were hit at the base in the city of Novorossiysk, Zelensky said in an X post.

Merchant vessels attacked in Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman: UKMTO

Several merchant vessels came under attack in the northern Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said Wednesday.

The vessels came under disabling fire amid ongoing military activity in the two areas, the agency said.

U.S. business optimism drops in August

Small business optimism in the United States dropped in August, according to data released Tuesday from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

The small business optimism index declined by 1.1 points to 98.7 in August. The uncertainty index retreated by 2 points to 89, remaining above the historical average of 68, according to the NFIB.
