6 Iranian army members killed in latest U.S. attacks -- media
Six members of the Iranian Army's naval forces were killed in the U.S. strikes against Iran on Tuesday night, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Thursday.
The report said the victims included three pilots, identifying them as Mojtaba Baqeri, Hamed Okati and Hossein Mahdavian.
In a Thursday post on X, Hossein Kermanpour, head of the Iranian Health Ministry's public relations, said 18 people were killed and 142 others injured in the U.S. attack against Iran between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2.
Belgium records nearly 3,000 deaths due to summer heatwaves
Belgium recorded nearly 3,000 excess deaths during three periods of high temperatures this summer, according to data released Thursday by the national public health institute, Sciensano.
Data from Sciensano's Belgian Mortality Monitoring (Be-MOMO) system showed that 2,035 deaths were recorded during the first heatwave from June 18 to July 3, representing an increase in mortality of 48.8 percent. The second heatwave, from July 4 to 17, saw 535 excess deaths, a 14.8 percent increase, while the third period of intense heat, from July 28 to Aug. 16, saw a 7 percent spike in mortality, or 365 deaths.
Africa CDC says too early to declare DR Congo Ebola outbreak under control
The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Thursday it remains too early to say that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is under control, despite signs of stabilization in recent weeks.
"We're still early to say that we're controlling the whole outbreak," Africa CDC official Wessam Mankoula told an online press briefing, noting that the outbreak "is still evolving."
Iran's Army says struck U.S. bases in UAE, Kuwait with drones, missiles
Iran's Army said Thursday that its forces have struck U.S. military bases in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait with missiles and kamikaze drones earlier in the day.

Over 80 migrants feared dead after boat found off Spain's Canary Islands
More than 80 migrants are feared dead after a boat from The Gambia with 128 people aboard was found drifting south of Spain's Canary Islands following nearly four weeks at sea, Spanish news agency EFE reported Thursday.
The boat was spotted by a Spanish Maritime Rescue aircraft on Wednesday afternoon about 120 km south of Gran Canaria. The rescue vessel Guardamar Urania reached the boat around midnight and found 45 survivors and five bodies on board.
