Flamengo edges Corinthians to stay top in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bruno Henrique scored late as leader Flamengo clinched a 2-1 home win over Corinthians in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday.
Lucas Paqueta opened the scoring by taking a touch to control an errant clearance before rifling a shot into the roof of the net.
Teenager Guilherme slid home a close-range equalizer following Kaio Cesar's delivery from the right flank.
Flamengo restored its lead in the 89th minute when Henrique latched on to Joaquin Freitas' cross with a thumping header from the edge of the six-yard box.
The result at the Maracana leaves Flamengo with 57 points, a point clear of second-placed Palmeiras, while Corinthians is 13th, 25 points further back.
Elsewhere in Brazil's top flight on Sunday, Edson Carioca scored a 91st-minute equalizer as Mirassol salvaged a 2-2 home draw with Vitoria.
